#Tardigrades - #aliens or no aliens at all

| | Due to their great resilience to extreme environmental conditions, individual researchers came up with the idea that tardigrades could possibly survive journeys through space through interstellar objects and thus possibly also be of interstellar origin on Earth.
But after a test found that tardigrades can only survive impact speeds of 825 meters per second, the hypothesis of the tardigrade's interstellar travel became less likely.
They could therefore not survive a piggyback trip on an interstellar object and land unscathed on earth.
But what if the tardigrade does not travel through space on the surface of an asteroid or meteor, but is inside an interstellar object that also contains water, for example?
The water inside the interstellar object could perhaps act as a shock absorber and so the small tardigrade could perhaps make it to land unscathed on earth.
And with other planets there are different conditions, e.g. a much thinner atmosphere and a much weaker gravitational pull. The little tardigrade could land there without any problems and make their home there.
Who knows, maybe one day you will come across small tardigrades on Mars that colonized the planet in their own way long before mankind ...

Can #pets #perceive more than humans?

| | For example, a cat reacts in a relatively unusual way when it is in the attic. It is an older, very calm and balanced animal.
But on the top floor she sometimes reacts in a very unusual way. She growls loudly and stares mesmerized at one spot, as if there were an enemy there. There was no other person or animal on the top floor at the time.
If it had been a small mouse or a bird, the cat would have reacted very differently and displayed routine hunting behavior.
But there was nothing. The cat was heading in a certain direction and fixed something with its gaze ... But there was nothing. It was like a response to a larger living being, but there was nothing.
Then the cat went down the stairs very enthusiastically and with all her courage to escape the mysterious object. After a while she came back and looked reassured, as if the object was gone.
The cat has shown this strange behavior a few times in the attic. They were each different places in the attic. The same behavior every time. In the middle of a very calm situation, the cat was completely spellbound from one second to the next. The whole body was tense. Then a low, threatening growl, as if in self-defense.
The animal's gaze was always fixed on a place where something seemed to be invisible to humans.
But there was nothing to be seen at this point, not even in a further direction. Then the animal withdrew every time and only came back later, when the mysterious something seemed to be gone.

#Waste #separation and #mismanagement

| | Citizens are repeatedly asked to carefully separate their garbage, as it is a matter of reusable raw materials. For this purpose, at least two chargeable garbage cans are set up per property, plus two voluntary free garbage cans.
Unfortunately, you don't know what happens to the garbage and whether the garbage is really being recycled.
It is also annoying that some of the raw materials that have been separated from the citizens are being asked for money for garbage collection.
Actually, the raw materials should be taken away free of charge. In Japan there even seems to be money for citizens for raw materials in the garbage.

#Retirement at #age of 72?

| | More and more politicians are of the opinion that the pension will only be affordable in the long run if the retirement age is drastically increased.
Apart from the fact that it is dubious to in a sense rob people of their retirement, there is also a great practical problem that does not come in line with the theoretical requirement.
Even assuming that people would be willing to work well into old age, what should this work look like in practice?
It is well known that physical and mental resources dwindle with age. What should the employment look like that is compatible with this loss of resources?
Physically strenuous work is logically excluded.
But even mentally demanding work is no longer so practicable ...
The problem is that the demand for longer working hours per biography is not offset by adequate health and medically effective improvement.
The whole thing is - realistically speaking - an unsound spinning out of an office.

Vocational #training and #school leaving #certificate

| | Youth unemployment and problems obtaining vocational training have long been a problem. Many young people have graduated from school, but it is still difficult for them to find good vocational training and thus become economically independent.
In addition, young people with a higher school leaving certificate at university find themselves in courses that have no reference point to economic reality. This is very idealistic, but with ideals the graduates can neither pay their rent nor their electricity bills. Often these graduates then ultimately become academics who spend the rest of their lives as waiters or taxi drivers.
A sensible way out could be to combine the school leaving certificate and also the higher school leaving certificate with vocational training. The young people would then be less dependent and penniless after they graduate from school.
