Medicine #1 between research and #marketing
saradina-info-blog on 27.05.2020 um 14:12 (UTC) |
| What applies to science in general applies particularly to medicine. General interest is very high precisely because medical issues are so relevant to life. The bigger the problems, the higher the expectations. It is so that the successes only increase slowly, especially in the case of very serious and frequent diseases. In practice, this means that those who see badly, see badly - even with glasses, those who are deaf from birth remain deaf, and those who are paraplegic after an accident remain paralyzed, despite all the technical innovations. In a way, you can say who is sick is sick and the aids may be better today, but basically nothing has changed since the beginning of humanity. The blind are blind and the lame are lame. One wonders why there are always better weapon systems, but certain diseases that have been known for a long time simply cannot be cured? Something is going wrong.

Science #1 between #research and #marketing
saradina-info-blog on 27.05.2020 um 13:54 (UTC) |
| The core task of science is to conduct research on specific issues and, if possible, to generate new knowledge. But science is increasingly coming under pressure from different sides. On the one hand, the population wants solutions for all kinds of everyday problems from health to technology, on the other hand, the good reputation of the sciences arouses desires among business groups. As research is expensive and the public sector shows little interest in the targeted promotion of science, research is becoming increasingly dependent on companies, which have more influence over what exactly is being researched and which topics are lucrative. Some corporations also use state educational institutions such as universities by providing material support for certain research. This is very practical for the corporations, because the universities make the environment available free of charge, but ultimately they do not benefit from what has been researched under the "patronage" of the corporations. These are questionable circumstances, especially when you think of the benefits for the general public.

Is there a #life after #death?
saradina-info-blog on 07.05.2020 um 18:47 (UTC) |
| Although the subject of "life after death" is very controversial, it doesn't seem to be going out of style.
There are very different reasons why people are interested in the topic. Some want to know if and how deceased relatives continue to exist after death, others may wish to extend their own lives.
It is very important which topic you are dealing with. What is "life" and what could "life after death" mean?
From a biological point of view, "life" means metabolism for energy supply and reproduction.
None of this is the case with the deceased. So when you talk about a "life after death", it means a kind of "survival of consciousness".
This is a completely different category than the biological one.

#Time
saradina-info-blog on 07.05.2020 um 16:37 (UTC) |
| It is a controversial thing. But I personally firmly believe that points in time do not simply pass, especially in a linear sequence, but always remain.
One could, so to speak, look at every situation, every moment, every person and every object at a certain point in time, perhaps even achieve it.
In my opinion it is the case that there is no real continuity, but that all things, people and situations are constantly recreating themselves from moment to moment. With the new creation there is a latent incompatibility. The same street is not the same street, it just looks like the same street. It's just a version of the street.
This leads to the misunderstanding that you think you know things or people. In truth, you only know individual versions of things or people.

Less #sunspots - is the #earth getting #cooler? #climate #change
saradina-info-blog on 07.05.2020 um 16:04 (UTC) |
| It is not easy. On the one hand there is man-made global warming, on the other hand there seem to be fewer sun spots on the sun.
However, fewer sunspots can indicate that the sun is (temporarily) not as active in the near future and emits less heat. This could make it significantly cooler.
In 1645 there was a small ice age. It won't be that extreme, but maybe the decrease in sunspots will counter global warming. Opinions are also divided here, some say that the sunspots will have no influence, others consider it possible that the sunspots could have some influence.
One can be excited.
So far, May has not been so extremely hot in previous years, and April, which in some previous years was like a summer month, was also quite moderate.
Regardless of whether experts disagree. Practice will show.
