Update:"Solve nutritional problems through photosynthesis?"
saradina-info-blog on 04.11.2024 um 14:49 |
| On 02.04.2020 I wrote a blog post on my blog Saradina-Info (saradinatechnik.de) under the title: "Nutrition #1Solve Nutritional Problems Through Photosynthesis?".
The blog post was concerned with the problems of nutrition of the world and the topic that people in the future might be able to take photosynthesis through biotechnical measures one day.
On one hand photosynthesis through biotechnical measures could be a chance on the other hand it could be a high risk.
This topic also seems to have been interested in scientists, because today I have read an article where it was reported that Japanese researchers have managed to equip the cells of hamsters with chloroplasts. The experiment was successful and a photosynthetic electron transport was also detectable.
Here again the text of my blog post:
"With a constantly growing population in the world and in view of possible droughts, the nutrition of the world population becomes an important question.
On the one hand, herds of cattle and other farm animals need large resources of pasture land, other feed and accommodation on the other hand. If you used these resources on crops for food crops such as wheat, rice and the like, you would be able to feed many more people.
These thoughts speak for a vegetarian or vegan diet for the world population.
Another advantage would be that there would be less cruelty to animals due to factory farming.
But if you think ahead, you can see that the cultivation of food plants also takes away many resources that a natural flora is then lacking. In addition, people would still be dependent on food-producing agriculture.
But the possibilities of science continue every day. With the ever better knowledge of genes and the manipulation of genes, one can imagine that one day it will be possible to implant genes that enable photosynthesis in humans.
Human life would become more peaceful, fewer wars would be fought, and individual dependence would be much less if one did not have to buy food from outside. Huge sales areas could be omitted or could be occupied differently.
If people could do photosynthesis, it would also be easier for people to colonize other worlds in space, the whole of humanity would be more flexible in terms of their living space.
It may sound very new, but it's worth thinking about it carefully."

#Quiz #shows as a #dumbing down machine
saradina-info-blog on 16.10.2024 um 07:27 |
| What is sold as education is in reality a disjointed memorization of sometimes senseless and inconsequential content such as: who married whom, what are the names of the children of whoever, who warbled which song, or in which cinema tearjerker played along, which film, actor, director got Oscar and other decorations, which athlete scored a goal, which club has which club crest.
Even within these categories, there is no continuity in terms of content, i.e. people who are immortally interested in the family relationships of whoever get football topics or something else in the next question. Quiz shows pervert the already boring family game "city-country-river" beyond recognition.
While at least geographical topics were properly and thoroughly crammed into the original, the memory hard drive of quiz show consumers is littered with senseless trivialities.
The hectic change of topics also prevents thinking about possible connections and backgrounds.
Quiz show players who still want to explain the context and background to a question are immediately choked off by the moderator with a sour face.
Thinking undesirable? Self-thinking undesirable? Thinking unwanted? Knowledge about background undesirable?
Instead, an intellectual pseudo-occupation for broad masses at the level: "We learn the telephone book by heart." No connections, no backgrounds and if two people are called Smith, it doesn't mean that they both live on the same street or are related.
Quiz shows offer the perfect platform for a concept where something is unquestionably learned by heart and self-thinking is consistently not trained.
Only memorization is rewarded with a financial treat for the candidates, questions and explanations are unwelcome.
Learning something by heart without asking questions is linked to receiving financial treats.
What comes across as harmless entertainment conditions broad masses to learn senseless trivialities by heart and wait for a financial treat from the media.
The quiz candidates serve as a model for conditioning.
The question remains, which group of people benefits from such a concept?

Is the #school time too long or the #teaching too inefficient?
saradina-info-blog on 12.10.2024 um 07:26 |
| When you read books about famous inventors and original thinkers or successful company founders, you notice that many of them spent very little time at school.
Especially in earlier centuries, many of these great thinkers left school at the age of fourteen. In addition, they often had very poor material equipment, which they often had to improve with their own hands.
What all of these great people had, however, was a deep interest in their own field, free curiosity and the courage to take practical action, as well as perseverance.
Today, the situation is completely different. School time is long, there are books, specially equipped work rooms, digital media such as computers, projectors, printers, etc.
Specialist teachers take over the so-called child-friendly lessons for the individual school subjects, the students also have digital equipment at home such as computers, smartphones, tablets, internet connections, and AI is increasingly being used.
But the performance of creativity does not seem to have increased with the material and pedagogical effort.
There are still illiterate people even in the materially well-equipped school system. Many students are simply uninterested and are only interested in their smartphones. Stamina and concentration are low and no one wants to get their hands dirty with any kind of craft work.
The inner attitude of the students and their parents towards school is that of consumers who want to be served and see themselves as the center of the institution.
Acquiring knowledge is seen as useless and serves only as a step on the career ladder to a well-paid job.
On the other hand, the long school time is offset from the educational point of view by a pseudo-supply of selected topic bites, with the topics changing quickly and there being little opportunity to recognize connections. The lessons are made more difficult by educational problems that parents do not resolve at home and the fact that teachers are seen as a kind of public servants and lackeys.
There is an ironic saying among photographers: "The better the camera, the worse the photo (in artistic terms)."
One could also say: "The higher the material expenditure and the more service in the school, the worse and more disinterested the students."
However, public school is not the soil in which original ideas, intellectual stamina and personal practical initiative emerge.

#AI pets: replacement for #living pets?
saradina-info-blog on 03.10.2024 um 08:13 |
| Artificial intelligence is considered modern, progressive and convenient.
It is therefore understandable that parents want their children to share in this modern blessing.
What could be more natural than to introduce the children to the new technology in a playful way with toy pets that have artificial intelligence?
These artificial companions for children are fascinating because of their variety of possibilities: They can walk, "talk", meow, bark, dance and also learn commands on their own.
Another advantage is of an economic nature: while real pets need food, water, a place to sleep, incur veterinary costs and need to be kept busy, artificial pets are very modest, they are available on demand and can then easily be put in a corner.
But what sounds ideal brings problems with it.
The most important effect that keeping pets has for children - the development of a sense of responsibility and empathy - is not achieved with artificial pets based on artificial intelligence.
On the contrary.
Children who have not yet had contact with real live pets get a completely wrong picture of animals and living nature.
They are lulled by the constant availability and unconditional obedience of their robot friends.
The children also get used to the convenient fact that you can simply put the electronic playmate back in the corner when you get tired of playing.
They will never get used to the natural and unpredictable mood swings and whims of a living animal; these children always experience themselves as the dominant center.
Play and obedience at the touch of a button, that is the sober essence.
Artificial intelligence may be interesting and trendy. As a companion for children who want to discover the living world, it is not only unsuitable but also counterproductive.
